Avita enters Malaysian market – cuts laptop price from RM 2,299 to RM 688

A new brand of laptops, Avita, will enter the Malaysian market, starting with its fashion-oriented Liber line.

The brand, under the leadership of Hong Kong-based Nexstgo Company Ltd, began selling in the region last year, expanding to Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan.

Nexstgo CEO Alex Chung said Avita would be aimed at younger users because its design reflected their more fun and colorful attitude.

“The philosophy of the Avita brand is to empower our customers to express themselves through technology and we aim to do so through our dynamic Liber range,” he said at the launch in Kuala Lumpur.

The company would work with local designers to create custom case designs, and by the end of 2018 customers would be able to customize their own cases as well.

For the first phase, the laptop would be available in 10 colors – purple, angle blue, cloud silver, champagne gold, scent lilac, matte black, pearl white, princess pink, space gray and urban ruby. More colors would be released later.

Liber comes in two sizes – 13.3in and 14in – and both run on processors ranging from Intel Celeron to Core i7 and feature an Intel HD graphics chip and a battery designed to run for 10 hours. .

The memory size ranges from 4 GB to 8 GB of RAM and the storage ranges from 128 GB to 512 GB.

The Liber has a versatile USB Type-C port that doubles as a charger, two USB 3.0 inputs, a micro SD slot, mini HDMI, and a 3.5mm headphone / microphone jack.

The 13.3-inch weighs 1.37 kg, while the 14-inch weighs 1.49 kg.

Prices range from RM 1,799 to RM 4,399.

Nexstgo’s director of product planning and business development, Joe Lee, revealed that the company also has a flagship laptop, the Nexstgo Primus and an Imago smart mirror, which is expected to be available by March. .

The Primus was a more rugged laptop, designed to withstand drops and spills of up to 350ml of liquid in four seconds.

Lee said the Imago is a smart mirror that runs on Android and will be paired with a smart scale to generate health reports on user weight, skin condition, sleep quality and more. .

The Liber is said to be the first to go on sale, available at the Digital Mall in Petaling Jaya from February 10.

As part of the launch, Avita is offering its 13.3-inch model at RM 688, up from RM 2,299, to the first 50 customers who shop at its pop-up store in Low Yat Plaza or Digital Mall on February 10.
