Nearly 400 arrests made in Pitt, other parts of North Carolina during the FTA crackdown; 17 firearms and 86 fake ID cards seized

RALEIGH, NC (AP / WNCN) – Authorities in North Carolina have executed search warrants, seized firearms and false identification, and made hundreds of arrests in an operation statewide liquor law enforcement event that took place at the start of the weekend.

The Department of Public Security said in a press release that special alcohol law enforcement officers partnered with local police departments in the effort on Friday night.

The press release said special constables made 371 arrests, executed 10 search warrants and seized 17 firearms and 86 fake IDs, US currency and various types of illegal controlled substances.

Overall, there were 682 charges, of which 104 were felony charges, 310 were alcohol-related charges, and 155 were drug-related charges.

Also during the transaction, 13 companies licensed by ABC were found to be in violation of state laws and regulations, according to the press release.

The counties in central North Carolina that were the focus of the busts were Wilson, Durham, Franklin, Orange, Wake, and Cumberland.

Other North Carolina counties targeted by the crackdown were Forsyth, Pitt, New Hanover, Brunswick, Polk, Mecklenburg and Scotland counties.
